I have a small yard in South Africa producing horses and ponies of all different shapes and sizes, from 13hh to 17hh and saddles were always the bane of my life.  It is such an important part of the horses’ welfare but to have a saddle for every horse was not feasible. 

I came across SMART Saddles after researching how I was going to solve this problem.

I was travelling to the UK so arranged a Test Ride with a SMART Advisor so I could feel which type of saddle I was going to be comfortable in.  I chose the SMART Elite Event saddle, as I felt very secure and balanced but not jammed in - and had big bonus of being able to swap from jumping knee blocks to dressage ones. I also got the full range of SMART dorsal pads and shims so I could easily adjust the saddle to fit each horse at home.

On getting back home to South Africa I was very keen to try each horse in the new SMART Saddle and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The mare pictured came to me a few days after I got back. She had had a saddle on that was really hurting her and was (understandably) bucking her rider off.  After a couple of weeks of groundwork and introducing the SMART Saddle she is a happy, willing girl.
